Job Summary
The University of Wuppertal is seeking a motivated PhD candidate to join the Chair of Materials for Additive Manufacturing. In this role, you will lead a DFG-funded research project focused on the development of metallic materials for additive manufacturing. Your daily responsibilities include conducting independent research, maintaining laboratory equipment, documenting and publishing scientific results, and collaborating with internal and external research partners. You will also participate in project acquisition and contribute to the supervision of student theses. The ideal candidate holds a Master's degree in Materials Science, Materials Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering and possesses practical experience in DED or PBF-LB additive manufacturing processes. This position offers a supportive, international, and interdisciplinary environment that encourages professional growth and the pursuit of a doctoral degree. Master of Science or equivalent in Materials Science, Materials Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering
Experience
- Professional academic experience in materials science, materials engineering, or mechanical engineering
- Proven practical experience in additive manufacturing of metallic materials using DED and/or PBF-LB processes
- Experience in metallographic sample preparation, microstructural analysis, and mechanical material testing is highly desirable

- Must be eligible and willing to pursue a doctoral degree (PhD). Position is subject to the WissZeitVG (Academic Fixed-Term Contract Act). Requires 75% part-time commitment.
