Job Summary

As an R&D Scientist at Roche Diagnostics, you will play a pivotal role in the development of complex molecular structures, focusing on nucleic acid and oligonucleotide chemistry. Your day-to-day responsibilities include planning and executing organic syntheses, performing laboratory isolation and purification (specifically RP-HPLC and IEX), and characterizing molecules for test development. You will document research findings, contribute to SOPs and patent applications, and ensure all processes align with rigorous quality management, safety, and environmental standards. This role requires a strong background in organic chemistry, ideally with a focus on nucleic acids, and the ability to work effectively within global project teams. You will also contribute to innovation by developing new solutions and supporting the team lead in project management and mentorship. Required Skills

Education

Master's degree in Organic Chemistry; a PhD is preferred but not mandatory.

Experience

  • Professional experience in organic chemistry
  • Experience in the purification of oligonucleotides using IEX is considered an asset
  • Experience in laboratory research and development
  • Experience in project-based collaboration and cross-functional team environments
