Job Summary

The Friedrich-Loeffler-Institute is seeking a dedicated Research Scientist to join their Institute for New and Emerging Animal Diseases in Greifswald. This full-time, fixed-term position, funded by the EU project "VICI-DISEASE," focuses on developing a new virus-like-particle (VLP) based vaccine against viral diseases with epidemic and pandemic potential. The successful candidate will be responsible for optimizing serological detection methods, performing neutralization antibody assays in high-security BSL4 environments, and evaluating vaccine candidates in animal models. Key responsibilities also include data analysis, scientific publication, and supporting a doctoral thesis within the project. This role offers an engaging scientific environment within a highly motivated international team, contributing to cutting-edge research in animal health and public safety.

Required Skills

Education

Completed university degree in Biology, Veterinary Medicine, Medicine, Microbiology, or comparable fields; Doctoral degree (PhD) in one of the aforementioned fields.

Experience

  • Professional experience with virological work
  • Experience with virological work in high-security areas (S3 or S4) is advantageous
  • Experience in handling laboratory animals and conducting animal experiments is advantageous
