Job Summary

This PhD position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge virological research focusing on the molecular replication mechanisms and clinical transmission pathways of the Hepatitis E virus (HEV). As a PhD candidate, you will work on establishing and refining innovative cell culture models and bioinformatic analysis approaches to characterize the viral life cycle. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include conducting complex virological experiments, performing computational data analysis, and preparing your findings for scientific presentations and publications. The role is ideal for a dedicated researcher with a background in life sciences or biomedicine who is eager to advance the development of new antiviral strategies. You will join a research-driven environment where your work will directly contribute to understanding viral replication and informing future therapeutic interventions. The position is part-time (65%) and fixed-term for three years, starting August 2026.

Required Skills

Education

Master's degree in Life Sciences, Biomedicine, or a related field.

Experience

  • Professional experience in molecular virology
  • Practical experience in the cultivation of eukaryotic cell lines
  • Experience in handling RNA and cultivating RNA viruses
  • Experience with virological titration methods
  • Experience in molecular biological techniques including cloning, PCR, and sequencing
  • Experience in computational data analysis and programming
