Job Summary

As a Molecular Biology Specialist at the State Operating Company for Environment and Agriculture (BfUL) in Nossen, you will lead projects for the S1 genetic engineering facility and manage molecular biological analyses, including PCR, DNA extraction, and sample preparation. You will be responsible for evaluating seed and feed for genetic modifications and establishing microbiological methods for pathogen detection. Your role involves maintaining analytical equipment, coordinating with reference laboratories, and ensuring quality assurance through internal and external audits. You will also provide technical guidance to staff and collaborate with government agencies to ensure compliance with legal standards. Required Skills

Education

University degree (Master's or Diploma) in Biology, Biotechnology, or a comparable field. Accredited Master's degree required for those with vocational/applied science backgrounds.

Experience

  • Professional experience in molecular biology, microbiology, cell biology, or virology
  • At least 2 years of experience in genetic engineering (preferred)
  • Experience working in an accredited analytical laboratory
  • Experience in quality assurance processes
  • Experience in staff management (preferred)

Additional

  • Must hold a valid driver's license (Class B). Project leader certification according to § 28 Genetic Engineering Safety Ordinance is preferred. Must be eligible to work in Germany.
