Job Summary
The University of Mannheim is seeking a Head of the Customers & Clients service department to lead IT support operations for its 12,000 students and 2,600 staff. In this leadership role, you will oversee four teams, managing professional development, personnel planning, and the strategic direction of IT services. You will be responsible for the end-to-end management of IT infrastructure support, including 1st and 2nd level support, premium support, and the implementation of innovative IT solutions, including AI-based technologies. Key responsibilities include budget management, project portfolio steering, and fostering collaboration across university faculties and administration. The position is ideal for an experienced IT leader who excels in service management, process optimization, and stakeholder communication. You will work in a high-impact, academic environment that prioritizes innovation, digital transformation, and sustainable IT operations while offering the stability and benefits of the public sector.
Required Skills
Education
Master's degree in Computer Science or IT-related field; PhD is considered an advantage.
Experience
- Long-term professional experience in IT management, preferably in a higher education environment
- Minimum 5 years of disciplinary leadership experience managing teams of 20+ employees
- Proven experience in process management and agile project management
- Experience in customer support and IT service management
- Experience in endpoint management systems
