Job Summary
The INM – Leibniz Institute for New Materials is seeking a motivated PhD Student to join their Materials-Host Interactions research group. In this role, you will focus on developing an innovative 'eye-on-chip' system, specifically creating the first model of the ocular microbiome within a microfluidic chip. Your primary day-to-day activities will involve conducting interdisciplinary research to understand how microorganisms interact with the ocular surface. Key requirements include a Master’s degree in Biomedical Sciences, Biology, Biotechnology, or a related field, along with hands-on experience in bacterial or cell culture. This position is unique as it offers the opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research aimed at reducing animal testing, while receiving comprehensive training in advanced cell biology, microscopy, and molecular biology techniques. You will work within a collaborative, state-of-the-art laboratory environment with access to professional development opportunities, including presenting research at international conferences.
