Job Summary
The Helmholtz-Zentrum Hereon is seeking a Biotechnological Engineer to join the Institute for Active Polymers at the Berlin-Brandenburg Center for Regenerative Therapies. In this role, you will perform genetic engineering tasks (safety levels 1 and 2), including the construction and application of transposons, synthetic mRNA, recombinant lentiviruses, and CRISPR/Cas systems. Your daily responsibilities involve developing and executing biochemical, molecular biological, and cell biological methods, specifically focusing on human primary and stem cells. You will manage laboratory operations, including instrument maintenance, documentation via electronic lab notebooks, and adherence to safety regulations. Required Skills
Education
Completed university degree (B.Sc. or equivalent) in Biotechnology or a related field.
Experience
- Professional experience in handling human cell cultures, with a preference for human primary cells.
- Demonstrated proficiency in fundamental molecular biological techniques including cloning, nucleic acid extraction, and PCR-based methods.
- Experience working within regulated environments, specifically regarding genetic engineering, biosafety, and hazardous materials management.
- Proven ability to work independently and manage laboratory documentation and technical equipment.

Additional
- Must be capable of working under legal frameworks for genetic engineering and biosafety. The position is initially limited until May 31, 2028.
