Job Summary

The Federal Office for Radiation Protection (BfS) is seeking a Technical Laboratory Assistant (50% part-time) to join the Biological Dosimetry department in Oberschleißheim. In this role, you will play a vital part in protecting people and the environment from radiation-related risks. Your day-to-day responsibilities include performing cell culture work with primary cultures, preparing and staining cell samples, and quantifying radiation-induced damage through microscopic chromosome analysis using computer-aided systems. Additionally, you will handle molecular biology tasks such as DNA/RNA extraction and gene expression analysis, while maintaining rigorous documentation and quality control. You will also support international researchers and students in the laboratory environment. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with a background in biological or chemical laboratory work who is motivated by scientific research and public service. Required Skills

Education

Completed vocational training as a Technical Assistant (e.g., BTA, CTA, MTLA, or equivalent).

Experience

  • Professional experience in cell cultivation and working under sterile conditions
  • Professional experience in gene expression analysis, including nucleic acid extraction, PCR analysis, and gel electrophoresis
  • Demonstrated ability to perform concentrated, long-term work at a microscope
