Job Summary

This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to sustainable agriculture by identifying and analyzing multiple pollutants, such as PFAS, antibiotics, and microplastics, within agricultural environments. As a Scientific Collaborator, you will be responsible for the acquisition, planning, and leadership of specialized research projects in environmental organic chemistry. A core part of the job involves developing, optimizing, and validating cutting-edge analytical methods, including quantitative stable isotope determination (13C, 15N) using isotopic mass spectrometry, and component analysis using liquid chromatography coupled with conductivity detection or mass spectrometry. You will also manage and maintain sophisticated analytical instruments, train junior staff (post-docs, PhD students, interns), and disseminate findings through peer-reviewed scientific publications and presentations at international conferences. This position requires a PhD and proven experience in research fundraising and project management.

Required Skills

Education

Doctorate (PhD) in Chemistry, Environmental Natural Sciences, or a related field.

Experience

  • Professional experience in research fundraising and management of research projects.
  • In-depth knowledge of environmental organic chemistry and trace analysis.
  • Experience with relevant analytes (e.g., PFAS, antibiotics, microplastics) and agricultural sample types.
  • Experience operating, maintaining, and servicing analytical instruments.
