Job Summary

As a Lighthouse Technician with the Baltic Sea Waterways and Shipping Authority, you will play a critical role in maintaining the maritime infrastructure that ensures safe navigation along the German Baltic coast. Your daily responsibilities include performing scheduled maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting on lighthouse systems, beacons, emergency power supplies, and radio-based sensor technology. You will also manage IT components for data transmission, ensure compliance with IT security standards, and conduct electrical safety inspections according to VDE standards. This position is unique as it involves working with historic landmarks and essential maritime safety equipment in diverse locations. You will join a dedicated team, receiving comprehensive training and the opportunity to work in a secure, long-term public service role that combines technical expertise with field-based responsibilities.

Required Skills

Education

Completed vocational training (minimum 3 years) in a relevant field such as Electronics for Industrial Engineering, Electronics for Devices and Systems, Information and Telecommunications Technology, Energy and Building Technology, or System Integration IT Specialist.

Experience

  • Professional experience in electrical engineering, electronics, or IT systems integration
  • Experience in maintenance and repair of technical infrastructure
  • Experience in electrical testing and safety compliance is highly desirable

Languages

German (Fluent)

Additional

  • Valid Class B driver's license, physical fitness for working at heights (G41 medical examination required), willingness to perform on-call duty, willingness to travel for service, and ability to undergo training at multiple locations (Stralsund, Rostock, Karlshagen).
