Job Summary

As a Materials Engineer at Schmitt Engineering, you will play a critical role in the development and lifecycle management of metallic materials for high-tech industrial applications, specifically focusing on the turbogenerator product line. Your day-to-day responsibilities include designing innovative material concepts, qualifying new materials and suppliers, and conducting complex failure analyses and root cause investigations on metallic components. You will collaborate closely with design teams to select appropriate materials for structural and electromagnetic applications while ensuring all processes adhere to international industrial standards. This position is ideal for an experienced engineer who thrives in a collaborative, international environment. You will manage material specifications, optimize supply chain quality, and provide technical expertise throughout the entire project lifecycle. Required Skills

Education

University degree in Materials Engineering or a comparable qualification.

Experience

  • Professional experience in industrial materials engineering
  • Demonstrated knowledge of standards, manufacturing processes, and quality requirements
  • Experience working with unalloyed, low-alloy, and stainless steels, as well as copper alloys
  • Experience with large steel forgings and metal joining techniques
  • Experience in project management and working within international, cross-functional teams
