Job Summary

As an Economist at the Deutsche Bundesbank, you will play a pivotal role in modernizing and further developing the institution's large-scale macroeconometric model. Your day-to-day work involves conceptualizing the model's structure, integrating VAR-based expectation formation, and incorporating economic adjustment costs. You will be responsible for estimating behavioral equations, conducting simulations, and ensuring the model's reliability for forecasting, sensitivity analysis, and scenario testing regarding economic shocks or policy measures. This position is ideal for an expert in macroeconomic theory and econometrics who thrives in a collaborative research environment. You will work closely with the 'Business Cycle and Growth' unit to enhance the model's theoretical foundations and empirical accuracy. The role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to high-impact central banking research while utilizing modern programming tools like Matlab and Dynare within a professional and flexible work environment.

Required Skills

Education

Master's degree or equivalent in Economics with an above-average academic record (grade 2.49 or better).

Experience

  • Professional experience in independent scientific research, demonstrated through publications or a completed (or near-completion) dissertation.
  • Experience with large-scale, semi-structural macroeconomic models is highly desirable.
