Job Summary
This Professorship role at Ansbach University of Applied Sciences involves leading research and teaching in the field of Smart Environments. You will design and evaluate sensor-based, interactive media installations for private, industrial, and public spaces, covering areas like Smart Homes, Smart Factories, and Smart Cities. Day-to-day responsibilities include delivering practice-oriented teaching in both German and English, managing research projects, acquiring external funding, and mentoring students from the bachelor to doctoral levels. You will contribute to the academic development of the university and participate in interdisciplinary administrative tasks. This position offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of digital environments while maintaining a balance between academic research and practical application. Candidates should have a strong background in media informatics, computer science, or interaction design, combined with significant professional experience outside of academia and a passion for innovative, student-centered education.
Required Skills
Education
University degree (Diploma, or Bachelor & Master) in a relevant field such as Media Informatics, Computer Science, UI/UX Design, or Interaction Design. A doctorate is typically required to demonstrate scientific qualification.
Experience
- Professional experience in conceiving and implementing innovative design and interaction projects in the media sector.
- At least 5 years of professional practice after university graduation, with at least 3 years acquired outside the higher education sector.
- Experience in leading or participating in interdisciplinary teams.
- Proven ability to conduct high-quality scientific work, typically demonstrated through a doctorate.
- Experience in academic self-administration and university-level teaching is highly desirable.

- Must meet the appointment requirements according to Art. 57 or Art. 64 BayHIG. Willingness to teach at all university locations. Candidates must be under 52 years of age for appointment to a civil servant position (Beamtenverhältnis). Participation in an external aptitude diagnostic process is required.
