Job Summary

The Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB) is seeking a State-Certified Technician to join the 'Gases' department in Braunschweig. This role is pivotal in advancing the energy transition by supporting the development and automation of measurement infrastructure for hydrogen and other technical gases. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include operating and maintaining complex measurement facilities, building experimental setups, performing high-precision calibrations, and developing software using LabVIEW and Python. You will work closely with scientific staff to ensure measurement readiness and support quality management processes. The ideal candidate holds a degree in electrical engineering or physical technology and brings practical experience in flow measurement and technical plant maintenance. This position offers the unique opportunity to work at a leading national metrology institute, combining research, software development, and quality assurance in an international, collaborative environment.

Required Skills

Education

Completed vocational training as an Electronics Technician for Information and System Technology, Electronics Technician for Devices and Systems, Mechatronics Technician, Physics Laboratory Technician, or equivalent, plus a State-Certified Technician degree in Electrical Engineering or Physical Technology.

Experience

  • Professional experience in construction, commissioning, and maintenance of technical systems, specifically gas-bearing lines
  • Practical experience in quantity/flow measurement technology is highly desirable
  • Experience in software development and database management
