Job Summary

This research position is based at the Comprehensive Heart Failure Center (DZHI) and the Medical Clinic I of the University Hospital Würzburg. As part of the Collaborative Research Center (SFB) 1525 'Cardio-Immune Interfaces', the successful candidate will conduct experimental research focusing on the regulation of myelopoiesis in cardiovascular diseases. Day-to-day responsibilities include planning and executing animal model experiments (mouse) and cell culture studies, establishing modern experimental methods, and managing transgenic mouse lines. You will be responsible for data analysis, interpretation, and presenting findings at international conferences. This role is highly attractive as it offers a structured PhD program through the Graduate School of Life Sciences (GSLS), funding from the German Research Foundation (DFG), and a collaborative international environment. The position provides a competitive TV-L E13 (65%) salary, flexible working hours, and opportunities for first-author publications.

Required Skills

Education

Master's degree or Diploma in a relevant scientific discipline (e.g., Biology, Biochemistry, or Medicine). Degrees from non-EU countries require a Statement of Comparability from the Central Office for Foreign Education (ZAB).

Experience

  • Professional experience in animal-based experimental research, specifically with mouse models
  • Proven experience in laboratory diagnostic methods such as Histology, ELISA, and qPCR
  • Experience in publishing scientific work in PubMed-listed journals
  • Experience in the independent collection, analysis, and interpretation of scientific data
  • Experience in managing and genotyping transgenic mouse lines is preferred
