Job Summary

As a Green IT and Energy Efficiency Engineer at Ostfalia University of Applied Sciences, you will lead the conceptualization and development of energy management systems for the university's data center infrastructure. Your daily responsibilities include analyzing energy consumption metrics (PUE, utilization rates), planning technical upgrades to cooling and ventilation systems, and implementing energy-efficient hardware solutions. You will serve as a strategic advisor to data center management, preparing decision-making templates and ensuring compliance with standards such as DIN EN 50001 and the 'Blue Angel' certification. This role is unique as it combines technical IT operations with environmental sustainability, involving active participation in the regional 'Academic Green IT Alliance' to share best practices. You will also develop monitoring tools, such as dashboards and scripts, to visualize efficiency gains. This position offers a professional environment in public service with long-term stability and a focus on ecological responsibility.

Required Skills

Education

Master's degree or equivalent university degree, preferably in a STEM (MINT) field.

Experience

  • Professional experience in energy and resource management within an IT context, Green IT, or data center planning.
  • Experience with energy management systems (e.g., DIN EN 50001) or environmental management systems.
  • Experience in IT service management, process documentation, and process modeling.
  • Proven experience in monitoring and reporting solutions for infrastructure and consumption data.
  • Experience in presenting complex technical information to management and technical departments.

Additional

  • German language skills at C1 level (CEFR) are mandatory. Foreign degrees require a formal statement of comparability (Zeugnisbewertung) from the Central Office for Foreign Education (ZAB). Location: Wolfenbüttel.
