Job Summary
This role at the Ostfalia University of Applied Sciences involves managing and automating a Linux-based server infrastructure, specifically focusing on the optimization of Nextcloud via PHP, Docker, and Kubernetes. As a DevOps Engineer, you will bridge the gap between technical operations and management by designing CI/CD pipelines, implementing Infrastructure-as-Code, and developing web applications. A significant portion of the role is dedicated to establishing a university-wide quality management system for IT services, creating comprehensive technical documentation, and coordinating processes for Information Security Management Systems (ISMS) and Business Continuity Management (BCMS). This position is unique as it serves as a direct staff unit to the IT Center management, offering high levels of creative freedom and responsibility in a family-friendly academic environment. You will be responsible for building a central knowledge base, including emergency manuals and architecture overviews, while ensuring the smooth operation of services for over 24,000 active accounts.
Required Skills
Education
Master's degree or University Diploma in Computer Science, Business Informatics, or a comparable STEM field of study.
Experience
- Professional experience in Linux server administration and container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Experience in PHP web application development and integration (REST APIs, SSO)
- Experience in designing and implementing CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment processes
- Experience in IT service management, information security, or business continuity management
- Proven experience in structured technical documentation and process coordination
- Experience in collaborating between technical departments and management levels

Additional
- The position is located in Wolfenbüttel and is limited until September 30, 2030. It is a full-time position (39.8 hours/week) compensated according to the EG 13 TV-L salary scale.
