Job Summary

As a Research Associate at Fraunhofer FHR, you will join the Embedded Systems department to develop high-performance signal processing solutions for advanced radar systems. Your daily work involves designing system solutions on heterogeneous platforms including FPGA, SoC, and GPU backends for applications in industrial quality assurance, automotive, and aerospace sectors. You will work within a multidisciplinary team of experts to create resource-efficient, real-time distributed signal processing systems. Beyond technical development, you will contribute to project acquisition, potentially lead research projects, and present your findings at international conferences. Required Skills

Education

Master's degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, Physics, or a related field; a PhD or intent to pursue a PhD is welcome.

Experience

  • Professional experience in FPGA development using VHDL
  • Professional experience in C/C++ development for embedded platforms
  • Experience in developing and implementing digital signal processing algorithms in hardware
  • Experience with CI/CD workflows and container-based solutions like Docker
  • Initial experience or basic knowledge in GPU programming for real-time applications
  • Experience in scientific publishing and presenting research at international conferences
