Job Summary
This two-year trainee program (Baureferendariat) at the Building and Properties Enterprise of North Rhine-Westphalia (BLB NRW) is designed to prepare engineering professionals for leadership roles within the state's public construction administration. As a trainee, you will work on diverse construction projects focusing on the modernization and maintenance of mechanical and electrical systems across one of Europe's largest real estate portfolios. Your day-to-day will involve a mix of practical application of technical knowledge, administrative tasks, and management training. You will rotate through various departments and external agencies to gain a holistic view of public administration, law, and business economics. This position is particularly attractive as it provides a structured path to becoming a permanent civil servant (higher technical administrative service) while offering a significant salary supplement and the opportunity to contribute to the state's goal of climate neutrality by 2030.
Required Skills
Education
Master's degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Supply Engineering, Energy Technology, or Industrial Engineering with a technical specialization.
Experience
- At least 3 years of professional experience following a Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical field
- Experience preferably in the planning and construction management of building technology systems
- Demonstrated readiness to take on responsibility and pursue a leadership career
- Experience in independent work and professional networking
