Job Summary
This role involves the administrative and technical leadership of an S2 microbiological laboratory within the Thuringian State Office for Agriculture and Rural Development in Jena. The specialist will conduct highly specialized diagnostic and microscopic examinations, focusing on bacterial and fungal diagnostics. Key responsibilities include implementing quality assurance measures for DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation, developing new examination methods, and ensuring compliance with infectious disease protection regulations. The position also requires engaging in public relations related to microbiology and participating in national and international expert working groups. Candidates need a university degree in natural sciences with a microbiology focus and mandatory authorization to work with Risk Group I and II pathogens. Experience in microbiological diagnostics of agricultural and environmental matrices is highly desirable.

Education
University degree (Diploma or Master's) in natural sciences with microbiological content
Experience
- Professional experience in microbiological diagnostics of agricultural and environmentally relevant matrices (e.g., feed, grain, fertilizers, compost, soil, cannabis, drinking and irrigation water) (desirable)
- Experience in detecting Risk Group 1 and 2 microorganisms per TRBA 460/466, especially pathogenic representatives (e.g., Salmonella spp., Aspergillus spp., Fusarium spp., Enterococcus spp.) (desirable)
- At least two years of full-time professional experience with Risk Group I and II pathogens under supervision (if not already authorized per § 44 IfSG)

- Personal authorization to work with pathogens according to § 44 Infection Protection Act for Risk Groups I and II (mandatory) OR fulfillment of requirements per § 47 Infection Protection Act to obtain authorization (mandatory); Driver's license (Class B); Willingness to undertake business trips; Foreign educational qualifications require proof of equivalence with a German degree and certified translation.
