Job Summary
This leadership role involves managing the IT and media infrastructure for the Stuttgart School Administration Office, overseeing the 'School-Wide Intranet Stuttgart' (SWIS) which serves 148 schools, 74,000 students, and 7,500 teachers. You will be responsible for the professional, organizational, and personnel management of a team of eight employees, while also serving as the Deputy Head of the IT Competence Center Schools. Day-to-day, you will drive the strategic expansion of network infrastructures (LAN, WLAN, MAN), set binding technical standards, and manage complex infrastructure projects in collaboration with municipal departments and external partners. This position is unique for its scale—managing over 6,000 access points and 1,800 switches—and offers the stability of public service with benefits like flexible working hours, mobile work options, and a focus on the digital transformation of the educational landscape.
Required Skills
Education
Master's degree or University degree in Computer Science, Communications Engineering, or Information and Communication Technology. Alternatively, a completed IT-specific vocational training combined with many years of relevant professional and leadership experience.
Experience
- Professional experience in planning, controlling, and operating complex passive and active network infrastructures
- Proven leadership experience in a professional IT environment
- Experience in leading interdisciplinary projects and coordinating internal and external partners
- Professional knowledge of network security and media systems
- Experience within public administration structures or municipal infrastructure projects is preferred
