Job Summary
This is a high-profile leadership role reporting directly to the Lord Mayor of Leonberg, where you will be responsible for building and leading a new department of 11 employees. Your day-to-day activities will involve coordinating cross-departmental topics, structuring complex decision-making processes, and ensuring that political objectives are translated into concrete actions. You will serve as a vital link between the administration, the municipal council, and the public, managing priorities and timelines for the city's most critical projects. The role is ideal for a strategic thinker who enjoys working in a dynamic political environment and wants to have a direct impact on urban development topics like climate change, mobility, and digitalization. This permanent position offers a unique opportunity to shape a central steering function from the ground up within a modern public administration framework.
Required Skills
Education
Master of Public Management, Bachelor of Arts in Public Management, or Diploma in Public Administration (qualified for higher service); alternatively, a Law degree with administrative experience or a relevant university degree with public sector experience. Foreign degrees require German recognition.
Experience
- Professional experience in a high-level function within a supreme state authority, municipal administration, staff unit, or comparable organization
- Proven track record in structuring complex issues and managing decision-making processes
- Experience in leading teams and communicating effectively at the executive level
- Practical experience in the public sector is highly preferred
Languages
Additional
- Must have the ability to work in a high-level political environment; eligibility for German civil service (Beamtenverhältnis) up to grade A 14 or public sector collective agreement (TVöD) grade 14.
