Job Summary
This permanent role within the Federal Office for Radiation Protection (BfS) involves ensuring the operational readiness of the nationwide Integrated Measuring and Information System (IMIS). As a key member of the Radiological Emergency Protection department, you will conduct field measurements using mobile nuclide-specific systems and maintain gamma dose rate (ODL) measuring stations across Baden-Württemberg and parts of Rhineland-Palatinate and Hessen. Your daily activities include planning field trips, performing technical maintenance on low-voltage networks, and documenting measuring site data using digital tools. This position is unique for its blend of field-based technical work and its critical contribution to environmental safety and emergency preparedness. The role offers the stability of a federal public service contract (TVöD), flexible working hours, and the opportunity to work at the forefront of radiological protection in a scientifically-driven environment.
Required Skills
Education
State-certified technician (Staatlich geprüfte*r Techniker*in) specializing in Electrical Engineering (preferably Information and Communication Technology), Physical Engineering, or Measurement and Control Technology.
Experience
- Professional experience in electrical engineering, physical engineering, or measurement technology
- Experience in digital data transmission and radio technology is preferred
- Practical experience working with low-voltage networks (230V)
- Experience in radiation protection and performing DGUV V3 inspections is highly desirable
- Experience in field service including the operation of service vehicles
Languages
Additional
- Valid driver's license and fitness for field service are required. Must be willing to participate in radiological emergency protection exercises, which may include wearing respiratory protection. Physical fitness to lift/carry loads up to 16kg is required. Location: Freiburg, Germany.
