Job Summary
This part-time (67%) research position within the Photobiotechnology group focuses on the development of biological catalysts for eco-friendly hydrogen production. As a PhD candidate, you will work at the intersection of biochemistry and biotechnology, specifically researching hydrogen-forming enzymes (hydrogenases) to combat climate change. Your daily responsibilities include protein engineering, experimental data analysis, and the preparation of scientific publications. The role is integrated into the 'RESOLV' Cluster of Excellence, providing access to cutting-edge equipment such as Cryo-EM and ICP-MS. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated researcher to work in an internationally networked environment with strong ties to industrial biotechnology. You will be supported by an experienced team while contributing to fundamental research on metalloenzymes and sustainable energy solutions.
Required Skills
Education
Master of Science or Diploma in Biology, Biochemistry, or Biotechnology
Experience
- Professional experience in molecular biology and biochemistry
- Experience in cloning and sequence manipulation for heterologous expression
- Experience in the purification and characterization of recombinant proteins
- Experience in interdisciplinary research environments
- Experience in scientific data evaluation and hypothesis formation

- This is a fixed-term position for three years at 67% of standard working hours (26.68 hours/week). Willingness to travel is required. The role is specifically designed for candidates pursuing a doctorate (PhD project).
