Job Summary

As a Senior System Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the digital future of the German Armed Forces (Bundeswehr) by managing one of Germany's most complex IT infrastructures. Operating within the Shared Service Operations department, you will be responsible for the maintenance, optimization, and operation of network management systems supporting LAN, WLAN, WAN, and telephony services. Your daily tasks include managing incidents and changes, overseeing user administration, and monitoring system performance. A key focus of the role is driving efficiency through automation using tools like Ansible and managing specific platforms such as Splunk and SMARTS. Required Skills

Education

Completed 3-year technical vocational training with additional qualifications (e.g., Technician, Master Craftsman) or a completed university degree in a relevant field.

Experience

  • Approximately 5 years of professional experience in a relevant technical field (or 2 years post-degree)
  • Professional experience in network technologies and management systems
  • Practical experience with Linux operating systems (RHEL 7/8/9)
  • Experience in automation and the use of tools like Ansible
  • Experience in technical consulting and IT solution integration
  • Experience in on-call service and troubleshooting for IT tools
