Job Summary

This role involves working closely with the Scientific Director of the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) to support strategic and operational initiatives. You will act as a key liaison between scientific departments, administration, and external partners, facilitating decision-making processes and coordinating science-related inquiries. Day-to-day tasks include conducting research, preparing decision papers, managing high-level correspondence, and organizing board meetings and presentations. This position offers a unique entry point into high-level science management within an internationally renowned research institution. It is ideal for a professional who enjoys working at the intersection of science and policy, providing deep insights into the management of a major research center. Required Skills

Education

University degree in Natural Sciences, Life Sciences, Medicine, or a related field. A PhD is considered an advantage but not mandatory.

Experience

  • Professional experience in science management or a comparable administrative-scientific role.
  • Experience in preparing decision templates, reports, and high-level presentations.
  • Proven experience in coordinating between scientific and administrative departments.
  • Experience in organizing and following up on board meetings and central resolutions.
  • Experience in managing strategic cooperation projects with external partners.

Additional

  • Willingness to undertake occasional domestic and international travel is required. Candidates must provide proof of immunity against measles in accordance with the Infection Protection Act (IfSG). Work permit for Germany required.
