Job Summary

This role offers an exceptional opportunity for a motivated PhD candidate to join the Neuro-Immuno-Oncology and Cell Therapy group at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE). Working on an ERC Starting Grant-funded project, the successful candidate will focus on developing and preclinically evaluating novel cell therapy approaches for pediatric high-grade gliomas, including innovative microglia replacement strategies. Day-to-day responsibilities include formulating scientific questions, designing and conducting complex experiments, and analyzing data using molecular and in vivo techniques. The position is highly collaborative, requiring the candidate to present and publish findings within a stimulating research environment at the Research Institute Children's Cancer Center Hamburg. This role is particularly attractive for those looking to participate in a structured PhD program under direct mentorship while contributing to high-impact research aimed at improving outcomes for children with brain tumors.

Required Skills

Education

Completed scientific university degree (Master's or equivalent) in natural sciences such as Molecular Medicine, Biology, or Neuroscience.

Experience

  • Professional experience in cell culture and molecular biology techniques
  • Practical experience in mouse experiments, specifically intracranial stereotactic injections or surgical procedures
  • Previous research experience in neuro-oncology or neuroimmunology preferred
  • Experience in formulating scientific questions and publishing research findings
