Job Summary

As a Biologist at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE), you will join the Institute of Neuroimmunology and Multiple Sclerosis (INIMS) to investigate molecular neurobiological mechanisms within the Research Unit 'Syntophagy'. This doctoral position focuses on neuronal autophagy in mouse models of multiple sclerosis. Day-to-day, you will apply advanced techniques such as molecular cloning, cell culture, and super-resolution microscopy while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team of neurobiologists and bioinformaticians. You will also participate in a structured graduate school curriculum, presenting research at international conferences and publishing findings in scientific journals. Required Skills

Education

Master's degree or Diploma in Biological Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, Biochemistry, or a related Life Sciences field.

Experience

  • Professional experience in basic cell biology, molecular biology, microscopy, or biochemical techniques
  • Experience in investigating molecular neurobiological mechanisms in animal models (preferred)
  • Experience with cell culture and laboratory animals (FELASA B certification preferred)
  • Experience in collaborating within multidisciplinary scientific teams

  • Proof of immunization or immunity against the measles virus is required before employment. FELASA B certification is preferred. The position is part-time (65% of regular weekly hours) and limited to four years. Availability to start in early summer 2026 is required.
