Job Summary

The Federal Institute of Hydrology (BfG) is seeking a Research Associate for the 'FraGen' project, focused on developing eDNA-based methods to assess genetic fragmentation in fish populations across German federal waterways. In this role, you will support the project management through laboratory and field research, including the collection and analysis of environmental DNA (eDNA) and the maintenance of experimental fish. Day-to-day tasks involve conducting lab experiments, participating in field surveys on large rivers, managing technical equipment, and performing basic statistical and bioinformatic data analysis. This position is ideal for early-career scientists looking to work in a modern research environment that bridges molecular ecology with practical environmental management. The role offers a collaborative interdisciplinary atmosphere, excellent laboratory infrastructure in Koblenz, and the opportunity to contribute to high-impact publications and reports on river connectivity and biodiversity.
