Job Summary

As a Head of Unit in the Cyber Defense division of Germany's domestic intelligence agency (BfV), you will play a critical role in ensuring national security. You will lead a team responsible for identifying cyber attackers, analyzing network data, and producing comprehensive technical reports. Your daily activities involve advising on the defense against potential cyberattacks, monitoring emerging IT trends, and sensitizing external stakeholders to IT security issues. This role requires a high level of technical expertise combined with strong leadership and negotiation skills to represent the agency both nationally and internationally. Required Skills

Education

Master's degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics with an IT focus, or a comparable technical/scientific field with a strong IT orientation.

Experience

  • Minimum of 18 months of professional experience as a leader of a comparable organizational unit
  • Professional experience in cyber security or network forensics
  • Professional experience in identifying cyber threats and analyzing network data
  • Experience in representing an organization to national and international partners

Additional

  • Must possess German citizenship. Candidates must pass written and oral suitability tests. Security clearance will be required as part of the intelligence service role. Locations: Cologne or Berlin.
