As an IT Application Manager at the Federal Administration Office (BVA), you will play a vital role in securing Germany and the EU by managing complex software systems for public safety, including the Schengen border initiatives. Your day-to-day involves driving the technical development of IT applications, managing deployments via Linux consoles, and acting as a key liaison between external developers, testers, and internal product owners. You will work in an agile environment using Scrum and Kanban to plan releases, ensure IT security compliance, and provide third-level support. Required Skills

Education

Completed vocational training as an IT Specialist (Fachinformatiker) for Application Development or System Integration; OR a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field; OR a Bachelor's degree in another field with relevant professional IT experience.

Experience

  • 2+ years of professional experience in technical software development roles such as object-oriented programming, test automation, or DevOps
  • Professional experience in agile software development (minimum 1 year if holding a non-IT degree)
  • Experience in managing external service providers and providing 2nd/3rd level support
  • Proven experience with Linux systems and database technologies
  • Experience with Java-based web applications and modern frameworks like Spring and Angular is preferred

  • Must be eligible for and willing to undergo a federal security clearance (SÜG). Position requires willingness to address gender and diversity competence.
