Job Summary

This role involves supporting the large-scale 'Danube Expansion' project, which focuses on improving navigation conditions and flood protection along a 70-kilometer stretch of the Danube River. Working for the Federal Waterways and Shipping Administration (GDWS) in Würzburg, you will provide technical oversight from the planning and approval phases through to implementation. Key responsibilities include reviewing design and budget documents, advising approval authorities, and managing tenders and contract supplements. You will also contribute to program planning and resource management while ensuring ecological compensation measures are integrated. This position is ideal for an engineer who enjoys interdisciplinary collaboration and wants to work on a high-impact infrastructure project that balances technical requirements with environmental conservation. Required Skills

Education

University degree (Bachelor or FH-Diploma) in Civil Engineering, Hydraulic/Water Management, Environmental Engineering, or Geotechnics.

Experience

  • Professional experience in hydraulic engineering and water management
  • Professional experience in project management and construction process control
  • Experience in procurement, awarding of contracts, and contract management
  • Knowledge of German federal and state administrative structures (specifically Bavaria)
  • Experience with ecological and nature conservation issues within engineering projects
