Job Summary

This role is based at the Helmut Schmidt University in Hamburg within the Professorship for Hybrid Intelligence. As a Research Associate, you will contribute to the 'RESI-LIA' research project, focusing on the development of AI-supported resilience laboratory environments. Your daily responsibilities will involve requirement analysis, conception, implementation, and testing of AI-based models and simulations. You will specifically work with Deep Learning and semantic modeling to analyze communication and decision-making processes in civil-military cooperation. The position offers a unique opportunity to pursue a PhD or Habilitation while working on high-impact third-party funded research. You will be responsible for data collection, processing, and publishing findings in international peer-reviewed journals and conferences. This is a full-time position (39 hours/week) within the TVöD E13 pay grade, providing a structured academic environment with flexible working hours and a clear path for scientific qualification.

Required Skills

Education

Master's degree or University Diploma with excellent grades in Computer Science, Business Informatics, Engineering, Data Science, Human-Computer Interaction, or a comparable field.

Experience

  • Professional experience or academic focus in machine learning, simulation, or adaptive systems
  • Experience in planning and conducting project-related data collection and analysis
  • Experience in scientific dissemination, including writing conference papers or journal articles
  • Previous exposure to Python and advanced AI concepts like Convolutional Neural Networks or Transfer Learning is preferred
  • Experience in interdisciplinary collaboration and administrative academic tasks
