Job Summary

This role is based within the State Office for Occupational Safety, Social Affairs, and Health (LASG) in Kiel, focusing on environmental health protection and toxicology. As a Scientific Officer, you will independently plan, execute, and evaluate scientific studies concerning environmental pollutants in breast milk, indoor air, and water. A significant portion of your daily work involves identifying hazardous substances like PFAS and PCBs, developing and validating measurement methods, and performing analytical measurements. You will also be responsible for drafting technical statements, publications, and providing expert advice to both the Ministry of Health and the general public. This position is ideal for a scientist with a strong background in instrumental analysis who enjoys combining laboratory work with public health policy. Required Skills

Education

University degree (Master's or equivalent) in Natural Sciences, specifically Chemistry, Food Chemistry, or a comparable field of study. A PhD in a relevant field is highly preferred.

Experience

  • Professional experience in conducting scientific projects
  • Experience in instrumental analysis and analytical chemistry
  • Experience with scientific database research and literature processing
  • Experience in developing and validating measurement methods is preferred
  • Experience in quality assurance within an analytical laboratory environment is desirable

  • The position is fixed-term until April 30, 2027. Applicants from the public sector may be considered for secondment up to grade A 14 SHBesG; otherwise, remuneration follows TV-L E 14. Willingness to work at the Kiel location is required.
