Job Summary
This role within the State Office for Occupational Safety, Social Affairs, and Health (LASG) in Neumünster focuses on protecting public health from environmental hazards. As a Scientific Officer, you will independently plan, execute, and evaluate scientific studies concerning environmental health, specifically targeting contaminants in breast milk, indoor air, and drinking or bathing water. Key responsibilities include identifying and prioritizing hazardous substances like PFAS and PCBs, developing and validating measurement methods, and performing analytical testing. You will also be responsible for drafting technical statements, publications, and public information materials. This position is ideal for a scientist who enjoys combining laboratory-based analytical chemistry with public health policy and communication. Required Skills
Education
University degree in natural sciences (Chemistry, Food Chemistry, or a comparable field of study); a PhD in a relevant field is preferred.
Experience
- Professional experience in conducting scientific projects
- Experience in instrumental analytics and chemical measurement methods
- Experience with literature research in scientific databases and processing scientific literature
- Experience in data processing and statistical evaluation software
- Experience in developing and validating new measurement methods is preferred

- The position is fixed-term until April 30, 2027. Location is Neumünster, Germany. Applicants from the public service may be eligible for secondment up to grade A 14 SHBesG; otherwise, remuneration is according to TV-L E 14.
