Job Summary
As the Head of the Technical Department within the Building Services division of the Lüneburg District, you will lead a dedicated team while providing high-level technical expertise. Your daily responsibilities involve managing personnel and organizational development, setting performance goals, and supporting staff with complex cases. You will independently process building applications, preliminary inquiries, and exemption requests from both planning and building law perspectives, which includes reviewing structural fire protection. Additionally, you will provide expert statements on urban land-use planning, advise stakeholders involved in construction projects, and conduct on-site building inspections and supervision. Required Skills
Education
Master's degree or Diploma in Engineering or Architecture; eligibility for the second entry level of career group 2 in technical services (German 'Laufbahnbefähigung').
Experience
- At least 3 years of professional experience as an Engineer or Architect
- Experience in public administration is preferred
- Proven leadership experience and the ability to make and communicate difficult decisions
- Experience in processing building permits and technical building law applications
- Experience with electronic file management systems is desirable

Additional
- Valid Class B driver's license required. Position is suitable for civil service appointment (A 13 NBesG). Candidates without the full 3 years of experience may be hired initially under a standard employment contract to gain the required experience for civil service status.
