Job Summary

This role within the City of Leipzig's Environmental Protection Office focuses on protecting the public from harmful environmental impacts like air pollution and noise. As a Technical Officer, you will be responsible for preparing technical statements for permit procedures under the Federal Emission Control Act (BImSchG). Your day-to-day will involve evaluating expert reports on physical environmental impacts, particularly noise and light emissions, and conducting noise measurements using specialized software and prognosis models. You will also monitor industrial facilities, issue administrative orders to ensure compliance, and handle complaints or legal proceedings. Required Skills

Education

University degree (Bachelor/Master/Diploma) in a technical or engineering field, such as Acoustics, Process/Plant Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a comparable discipline.

Experience

  • Professional experience in the enforcement of the Federal Emission Control Act (BImSchG) and related regulations.
  • Practical experience in evaluating physical environmental impacts such as noise, light, and electromagnetic fields.
  • Experience in using specialized calculation software and prognosis models for sound propagation.
  • Experience in handling noise measurement equipment.
  • Professional experience in administrative procedures, including building planning and building regulations law.
  • Experience in drafting legally secure administrative notices and reports.

  • The position is fixed-term until December 31, 2026. Applicants must not have been previously or currently employed by the City of Leipzig due to specific German labor law restrictions (§ 14 (2) TzBfG). Requires the ability to work independently and possess strong negotiation skills.
