Job Summary

This role is based within the City Treasury of Leipzig, specifically in the Payments and Accounting department. As an Accounts Payable Clerk, you will manage creditor accounts using SAP (PSCD), handling the full lifecycle of invoice processing. Your daily responsibilities include quality control of incoming invoices, verifying authorization levels, managing payment blocks, and processing bank returns. You will also handle complex tasks such as debt garnishments, third-party debtor declarations, and supporting various departments with SAP-related queries. This position is ideal for detail-oriented professionals who enjoy structured financial work and collaborative problem-solving. Required Skills

Education

Degree as a Management Assistant in Public Administration, Certified Administrative Professional (AI), Tax Assistant, Office Management Assistant, or a comparable commercial vocational qualification (minimum 3 years). Additional qualification as a Certified Management Accountant (Bilanzbuchhalter) is an advantage.

Experience

  • Professional experience in accounting is explicitly desired
  • Practical experience using SAP and Microsoft Office applications
  • Experience in municipal double-entry bookkeeping (Doppik) and cash law is preferred
  • Experience in handling payment transactions and creditor management

Additional

  • Strict conflict-of-interest regulations apply: applicants must not be related to or in a domestic partnership with specific senior city officials or treasury staff. Must be available for specific office hours and year-end closing activities in December/January. Work permit may be required if not a citizen.
