Job Summary
This role at the Bavarian State Office for Health and Food Safety (LGL) involves the production of culture media as the foundation for microbiological testing in accredited laboratories. Working in the 'Pathology, Parasitology, and Bee Diseases' department in Erlangen, you will be responsible for the entire production cycle: from calculating concentrations and weighing chemicals to sterilization and filling petri dishes. You will operate high-quality laboratory equipment such as autoclaves, pH meters, and automated filling systems while maintaining strict hygiene and quality management standards. The position is ideal for detail-oriented professionals who enjoy practical lab work and documentation. It offers a collaborative environment with modern equipment, flexible working hours, and the opportunity to contribute to public health and consumer protection in Bavaria. This is a fixed-term position for up to 18 months.
Required Skills
Education
Successfully completed vocational training as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MTL/MTLA), Veterinary Laboratory Technician (VMTA/MTV), Chemical Technical Assistant (CTA), or Laboratory Assistant.
Experience
- Professional experience as a Laboratory Technician (Medical, Veterinary, or Chemical) or in a comparable technical assistant role
- Experience in handling laboratory software and administrative IT systems
- Practical experience in microbiological laboratory methods and hygiene standards
- Experience in documenting recipes and developing modified laboratory methods
- Experience in quality control and participating in internal/external audits
