Job Summary
This part-time (50%) position at the University of Wuppertal involves managing the server and desktop infrastructure for the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, and Media Technology. Day-to-day responsibilities include the setup, commissioning, and maintenance of Linux and Windows systems, software installation, and hardware troubleshooting. You will handle security management, procurement of hardware, and provide essential user support. The role is highly technical, requiring the maintenance of software libraries and the implementation of backup strategies and security concepts. Required Skills
Education
University degree (FH/B.Sc.) in Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related IT field; alternatively, a completed vocational training as an IT Specialist (Fachinformatiker) with additional professional experience.
Experience
- Several years of professional experience in IT administration if applying with a vocational qualification
- Extensive experience with UNIX and Windows operating systems
- Professional experience in server and desktop system integration
- Experience in scripting and automation using Python or similar languages
- Experience with network infrastructure including managed switches and routers is preferred
- Experience in application development and configuration management systems is desirable
