Job Summary

As a Biological Laboratory Technician at the State Company for Environment and Agriculture (BfUL), you will play a vital role in seed quality testing and agricultural analysis. Operating out of Nossen, your daily responsibilities will center on examining seed samples for technical purity, germination capacity, and thousand-kernel weight according to International Seed Testing Association (ISTA) standards. You will perform viability tests (TTC), identify foreign seed species, and determine moisture content. Beyond testing, you will be responsible for the calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment and internal quality assurance. Required Skills

Education

Successfully completed vocational training as a Biological Laboratory Technician, Biology Technical Assistant (BTA), Gardener, Farmer, or a related profession suitable for seed testing.

Experience

  • Professional experience in seed testing or agricultural laboratory analysis
  • Experience in performing germination and vigor tests on various crop types
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation including the Seed Marketing Act and ISTA regulations
  • Experience in measuring technical purity and identifying foreign seed species
  • Experience with laboratory equipment maintenance and metrological traceability
