Job Summary
As a Junior Research Group Leader at the Center for Molecular Bioengineering (B CUBE), you will independently establish and lead an interdisciplinary research group within a world-class scientific ecosystem. Your day-to-day responsibilities include managing a dedicated research budget for personnel and equipment, conducting original research, and publishing findings in high-impact journals. You will also be expected to participate in academic teaching and actively pursue third-party funding from prestigious bodies like the ERC or DFG. This role is ideal for an ambitious scientist with a PhD in life sciences and a focus on synthetic biology or biological materials. What makes this position unique is the integration into the Life Science Campus in Dresden, providing access to state-of-the-art facilities and a collaborative network including the Max Planck Institute. The position offers an initial three-year term with a potential two-year extension following a successful evaluation, providing a clear pathway for career development in academia.
Required Skills
Education
University degree and a PhD degree in a relevant field of life sciences (e.g., Molecular Genetics, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Systems Biology, Biophysics, or Bioengineering).
Experience
- Professional experience in leading independent research projects
- Excellent scientific track record in experimental or computational approaches
- Experience in analyzing and engineering biological systems
- Experience in acquiring third-party research funding is encouraged
- PhD awarded typically within the past four years
