As a PostgreSQL Administrator, you will perform pioneering work in the introduction and commissioning of a highly available PostgreSQL database environment (utilizing Patroni) across multiple data centers. Your day-to-day responsibilities involve conceptualizing the rollout of new databases and plugins, as well as programming automation scripts using Ansible and GitLab for tasks like installation and housekeeping. You will independently manage proof-of-concepts for new versions and perform regular patching of database products. This role is based in Berlin within the Database Transition team of the German Federal Pension Insurance (DRV) data center. Required Skills

Education

University degree (Bachelor, Diploma) in IT, or equivalent qualification such as specialized IT training, completed vocational training as an IT Specialist (Fachinformatiker), or comparable practical IT experience.

Experience

  • Professional experience in database administration
  • Practical experience in identifying, analyzing, and resolving error states in PostgreSQL databases
  • Experience with Unix/Linux operating systems and shell scripting
  • Experience with highly available databases on virtualized infrastructure is preferred
  • Experience with automation tools such as Ansible and GitLab is preferred
  • Experience in project work and conceptual documentation is desirable
