Job Summary
As an Engineer or Physicist at the German Aerospace Center (DLR) in Trauen, you will join the Fire Behavior Material Testing Group to conduct critical investigations into fire protection and material behavior. Your day-to-day responsibilities include serving as the lead engineer for test stand technology and managing measurement and testing equipment. You will participate in international working groups and expert committees to develop testing methods and standards. The role involves technical and safety assessments, documentation, and supporting Europe's largest research aircraft fleet with fire protection issues during modifications. This position offers a unique blend of theoretical research and hands-on laboratory work, ranging from small-scale coupon testing to full-scale fire and extinguishing trials. Required Skills
Education
Completed university degree (Bachelor or Diploma Engineer) in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
Experience
- Long-term and intensive professional experience in measurement technology, covering planning through to hardware and software-based data acquisition
- Practical experience in the construction of electronic circuits
- Professional experience in control technology and the management of electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems
- Experience in technical and safety-relevant assessments and documentation
- Experience participating in international working groups or expert committees
Languages
Additional
- Qualification as a respiratory protection equipment wearer (Atemschutzgeräteträger) for self-contained breathing apparatus is required. The position is initially limited to a duration of 3 years.
