Job Summary
This role involves working at the Food and Veterinary Institute Oldenburg within the Department of Molecular Biology and Virology. As a Laboratory Technician, you will be responsible for processing incoming samples and conducting molecular biological and virological examinations. Your daily tasks will include performing manual and automated nucleic acid extractions, as well as simple and real-time PCR test procedures. You will also play a key role in the differentiation of pathogens and the validation of new test methods. The position offers a collaborative environment within a state consumer protection agency, featuring flexible working hours and a focus on public health safety. Required Skills
Education
Successfully completed vocational training as a Biological Laboratory Technician, Biological-Technical Assistant (BTA), Medical-Technical Assistant (MTA), or a comparable qualification.
Experience
- Minimum of six months of professional experience in molecular biology and/or virology
- Experience in performing PCR test procedures and nucleic acid extractions
- Professional experience in pathogen differentiation and test method validation
- Experience in handling infectious agents and sensitive biological materials

- Willingness to participate in on-call rotations, weekend, and public holiday shifts. Must be prepared to undergo further training and assist in departmental instruction. Fixed-term contract.
