Job Summary

This full-time position at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering involves developing efficient numerical methods for musculoskeletal simulations, specifically focusing on muscle, tendon, and ligament paths. As a Research Associate or Postdoc, you will leverage differential geometry and Jacobi fields to solve the 'Muscle Wrapping Problem.' Your day-to-day will involve developing algorithms, evaluating numerical efficiency through benchmarks, and collaborating with international partners to integrate findings into the OpenSim simulation software. The role is heavily research-oriented and academic, requiring the publication of results in peer-reviewed journals and presentations at international conferences. This position is particularly attractive for those seeking a PhD or post-doctoral qualification within a DFG-funded project, offering a high degree of independence, the chance for international research stays, and the opportunity to contribute to a globally used biomechanics community tool.

Required Skills

Education

Master's degree or Diploma in a field related to numerical simulation (e.g., Mechanical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics). A PhD is required for the Postdoctoral level.

Experience

  • Professional experience in numerical mathematics and the implementation of algorithms
  • Experience in dynamic simulation and musculoskeletal modeling
  • Proven track record in independent scientific research and academic publishing
  • Experience with international research collaboration is preferred
