Job Summary
The Samtgemeinde Apensen is seeking a dedicated Head of Finance and Treasurer to lead its financial department. In this pivotal role, you will oversee a broad portfolio including the treasury, financial and asset accounting, tax matters, and enforcement affairs for a community of approximately 10,000 residents near Hamburg. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve drafting annual budgets, managing debt and assets, and providing expert financial counsel to administrative leadership and political committees. You will also be responsible for preparing annual financial statements and supervising the municipal treasury. This position is ideal for a strategic leader who enjoys working in a small, motivated team and is comfortable navigating public sector regulations. The role offers a high degree of professional challenge, flexible working hours with home office options, and the opportunity to shape financial policy in an attractive residential area in Lower Saxony.
Required Skills
Education
Successful completion of the Administrative Specialist course (Angestelltenlehrgang II / Verwaltungsfachwirt) or a Bachelor of Arts in Public Administration.
Experience
- Professional experience in municipal financial and treasury law
- Experience in the preparation of annual financial statements and budget reports
- Leadership experience in managing staff and departmental operations
- Experience in advising administrative leadership and political committees
- Proven track record in organizational planning and financial control
