Job Summary

This role involves managing the core IT infrastructure at the Max Planck Institute for Dynamics and Self-Organization in Göttingen, an internationally renowned research facility. As an IT System Administrator, you will be responsible for the day-to-day administration of network infrastructure (HPE), firewalls (ForcePoint), and Linux-based server environments. You will also manage the Proxmox virtualization environment, install new IT systems, and provide 2nd-level support for internal users. The position is ideal for technical professionals who enjoy a mix of hardware management, scripting, and service-oriented troubleshooting. What makes this role unique is the opportunity to work in a high-level scientific research environment with a permanent contract and the stability of the public service collective agreement (TVöD). You will join a team of approximately 300 employees, contributing to the smooth operation of complex IT services that support global research initiatives.

Required Skills

Education

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or completed vocational training as an IT Specialist (Fachinformatiker) with relevant professional experience.

Experience

  • Professional experience in server hardware and network components
