Job Summary

This role involves joining the 'Emergent Dynamics in Living Systems' research group at the Max Planck Institute for Dynamics and Self-Organization in Göttingen. As a PhD candidate, you will work within the European Doctoral Network 'CAFE-BIO' on the project 'Proliferating active media.' Your day-to-day work will focus on investigating the collective dynamics of multicellular systems, such as tissues and bacterial colonies, using computer simulations and non-equilibrium statistical physics. You will specifically study the interactions between mechanical cell activities, including growth, division, and motility. This position offers a highly interdisciplinary and international environment, providing the opportunity to contribute to fundamental theoretical and experimental research. The role is attractive due to its integration into a prestigious European network, excellent working conditions, and a focus on cutting-edge biological physics. The position is fixed-term for three years with a planned start date of September 1, 2026.
